Film crew management.
Make responsibilities clear.
Review departments, collaborators and cast schedules in the film’s working context. A crew list is useful when people can see what they are responsible for.
Nine collaborators, with a clear role in the same film.
Group people by the work they do
Departments help a production communicate responsibilities. Review direction, production, camera and the other roles your film needs, then check the person attached to each task or shoot day. A title alone is not a substitute for a clear assignment.
Check cast days against coverage
Make sure the performers required for a scene are available for the day on which its shots are scheduled. Review changes with the relevant department and check the updated documents before distribution. The sample names and planning contacts are fictional.
Questions about crew management
How does the cast schedule relate to the shooting schedule?
The cast schedule describes performer work across dates; the shooting plan places scenes and coverage into days. Review both after a change.
Are department names fixed requirements for every shoot?
No. A small production may combine responsibilities. Use a structure that makes ownership and communication clear for the crew you actually have.
